SECOND BATTLEFIELD
The second battlefield was not in my original travel plans at all. As I headed across Alabama on Interstate 59 I realized I was going to pass near Chickamauga. I was really excited about having the chance to see this battlefield as it is one I am least familiar with and my relative BG Liddell commanded a division here. There is an excellent Visitor Center. My pictures can hardly do justice to this immense park. It covers the ground of both days of the battle.

Artillery in front of Visitor Center:
Most of my pictures from this trip revolve around Liddell's Division during the two days. They were heavily involved in the action at Winfrey Field, driving the Yanks back only to be driven back themselves later. These first markers were located right across the street from the Visitor Center.
This is one of the trails I walked to get to some of the action Liddell was involved with. The trees and clearings today are much like they were during the time of the actual battle.
